Kenneth G. Rosenow, M.D., 84, of Manistee and Ludington, passed away peacefully, Saturday morning, Aug. 4 at his home. He was born June 30, 1928, in Grant Township, the son of the late Herman and Lydia (Woebbeking) Rosenow. He was a graduate and class valedictorian of Manistee High School - Class of 1945, and the University of Michigan, where he earned his medical degree. On Sept. 16, 1950, he was united in marriage, to Lois M. Chapin, in Springfield, New Jersey.

He served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force, from 1955 through 1957. Following his release from service, in Sept. of 1957, he and Lois returned to Manistee, and opened his private medical practice, from which he retired in 1977. He then worked as an emergency room physician at West Shore Hospital until 1982. Following retirement, he owned and operated two motels in Clearwater Beach, Florida.

He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, Manistee County Medical Society, and a former member of the Manistee Jaycees. While in Clearwater, he was a board member of the Clearwater Marine Science Center, and was one of the original organizers of the Clearwater Beach Chamber of Commerce.

Ken is survived by his wife, Lois of Ludington; his children, Kenneth (Betsy) Rosenow, Jr., of Free Soil, Michael (Bethany) Rosenow of Clearwater, and Kristen (Steve) Kimm of Kalamazoo; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Mallison of Pittsburgh; a sister-in-law, Mary Jo (Jack) Dranttel of Sarasota, and several nieces; nephews; and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Aaron Rosenow; by his brothers, Virgil and Marshall Rosenow; and by his sister, Violet Mallison.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 17 at 11 a.m., at the First Congregational Church of Manistee, with the Rev. Jane Lane Lippert, officiating. Final interment will be in the Grant Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the Johnson Funeral Home beginning Thursday evening, Aug. 16, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, those wanting to remember Ken, consider a gift in his memory to the Manistee County Medical Society.
