MyFeePlan to Begin Offering Public Military Records to Their Customers

MyFeePlan.com will start to offer military records along with continued service of other valuable public records.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) January 31, 2013

MyFeePlan has expanded the scope of their public records database to include military records, company officials said yesterday.

?We have had numerous requests from our customers to make military records available to them,? said company spokesman Josh Fraser. ?It took us some time to add them to the database, but they are now there and we are happy to have the chance to find a new way to satisfy our customers.?

MyFeePlan is a public document search company. In the past they have offered arrest records, warrant checks, driving records checks, sex offender checks, and vehicle history reports to the general public.

?This is just one more way for us to make sure that information that is supposed to be public remains available to the public," Fraser said. ?Your tax dollars were used to generate these records, so you should be able to have access to them.?

Fraser said there were a variety of reasons that people may want to use a military records check.

?Maybe you've lost touch with an old army buddy and want to locate him,? Fraser said. ?Or maybe someone has applied for a job at your company and claims to have a stellar military record. Wouldn't you want to find out for sure if they are telling the truth, or if they left the military for less than honorable reasons??

The company said that as the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan continue to wind down and soldiers come home, he expects there the demand for military records checks to continue to grow.

?The people asked for them and we've found a way to give it to them,? he said.

New type of microchip created which not only moves information from left to right and back to front, but up and down as well

Scientists from the University of Cambridge have created, for the first time, a new type of microchip which allows information to travel in three dimensions. Currently, microchips can only pass digital information in a very limited way - from either left to right or front to back. The research was published today, 31 January, in Nature.

Dr Reinoud Lavrijsen, an author on the paper from the University of Cambridge, said: "Today's chips are like bungalows everything happens on the same floor. We've created the stairways allowing information to pass between floors."

Researchers believe that in the future a 3D microchip would enable additional storage capacity on chips by allowing information to be spread across several layers instead of being compacted into one layer, as is currently the case.

For the research, the Cambridge scientists used a special type of microchip called a spintronic chip which exploits the electron's tiny magnetic moment or 'spin' (unlike the majority of today's chips which use charge-based electronic technology). Spintronic chips are increasingly being used in computers, and it is widely believed that within the next few years they will become the standard memory chip.

To create the microchip, the researchers used an experimental technique called 'sputtering'. They effectively made a club-sandwich on a silicon chip of cobalt, platinum and ruthenium atoms. The cobalt and platinum atoms store the digital information in a similar way to how a hard disk drive stores data. The ruthenium atoms act as messengers, communicating that information between neighbouring layers of cobalt and platinum. Each of the layers is only a few atoms thick.

They then used a laser technique called MOKE to probe the data content of the different layers. As they switched a magnetic field on and off they saw in the MOKE signal the data climbing layer by layer from the bottom of the chip to the top. They then confirmed the results using a different measurement method.

Professor Russell Cowburn, lead researcher of the study from the Cavendish Laboratory, the University of Cambridge's Department of Physics, said: "Each step on our spintronic staircase is only a few atoms high. I find it amazing that by using nanotechnology not only can we build structures with such precision in the lab but also using advanced laser instruments we can actually see the data climbing this nano-staircase step by step.

"This is a great example of the power of advanced materials science. Traditionally, we would use a series of electronic transistors to move data like this. We've been able to achieve the same effect just by combining different basic elements such as cobalt, platinum and ruthenium. This is the 21st century way of building things harnessing the basic power of elements and materials to give built-in functionality."

Ballmer dashes Office for iPad hopes (for now)

Office online on iPad

Following up on yesterday?s release of cloud-based Office 365 for Macs and Windows PCs, Microsoft?s energetic CEO Steve Ballmer sat down with Ashlee Vance of Bloomberg Businessweek to talk biz, competition and discuss what?s next for the productivity suite. Office 365, basically a subscription-based offering, shouldn?t be confused with the just released Office 2013 suite.

Despite several credible leaks proving that Microsoft is working on Office for iPad, Ballmer isn?t?afraid?of an Office-less iPad. Little wonder, considering the Windows maker is keeping a tablet version of Office exclusive to Windows 8 tablets as a crucial advantage over other tablets?

When asked to comment how Office for iPad is coming along, Ballmer responded:

I have nothing to say on that topic. We?re very glad with the product, very happy with the product that we?re putting in market. It makes sense on the devices like the Mac and the PC.

We have a product that we think makes a lot of sense. We do have a way for people always to get to Office through the browser, which is very important. And we?ll see what we see in the future.

He also isn?t impressed by Dropbox and its 100 million users:

Well, you?ve got to remember, 100 million sounds like a pretty small number to me, actually. We?ve got a lot more Office users. And actually if you even want to go to the cloud, we have a lot of Hotmail and SkyDrive users.

?I?m not beating on Dropbox?, he added. ?They?re a fine little startup and that?s great?.

Be that as it may, don?t take Ballmer?s ?no comment? comment for granted.

Quickoffice for iPad (teaser 001)

We know from before that Redmond has an iPad version of the Office suite in development: a spokesperson for the company told The Verge in November 2012 that mobile Office for iOS and Android should be expected in early 2013, adding the app will support Windows Phone, iOS and Android devices.

Unfortunately, checks indicate that it won?t be a full-blown Office offering. Instead, mobile Office apps will be a companion offering providing only limited editing functionality so Microsoft could sell you the full-blown desktop Office suite.

The question is, with a solid Google Apps support on the iPad, Google?s Drive app and mobile Office alternatives like Google-owned QuickOffice, do mainstream users actually need the official mobile Office apps at all?

Me?

I ditched Office five years ago and have been using Google Apps for all my productivity needs ever since.

Never looked back.

Researchers develop model for identifying habitable zones around star

Jan. 30, 2013 ? Researchers searching the galaxy for planets that could pass the litmus test of sustaining water-based life must find whether those planets fall in a habitable zone, where they could be capable of having liquid water and sustaining life. New work, led by a team of Penn State researchers, will help scientists in that search.

Using the latest data, the Penn State Department of Geosciences team has developed an updated model for determining whether discovered planets fall within a habitable zone. The work builds on a prior model by James Kasting, Evan Pugh Professor of Geosciences at Penn State, to offer a more precise calculation of where habitable zones around a star can be found.

Comparing the new estimates with the previous model, the team found that habitable zones are actually farther away from the stars than previously thought.

"This has implications for finding other planets with life on them," said post-doctoral researcher Ravi kumar Kopparapu, a lead investigator on the study, which will be published described in Astrophysical Journal.

For the paper, Kopparapu and graduate student Ramses Ramirez used updated absorption databases of greenhouse gases (HITRAN and HITEMP). The databases have more accurate information on water and carbon dioxide than previously was available and allowed the research team to build new estimates from the groundbreaking model Kasting created 20 years ago for other stars.

Using that data and super computers at Penn State and the University of Washington, the team was able to calculate habitable zones around other stars. In the previous model, water and carbon dioxide were not being absorbed as strongly, so the planets had to be closer to the star to be in the habitable zone.

The new model has already found that some extrasolar planets previously believed to be in habitable zones may, in fact, not be.

The new model could also help scientists with research that is already under way. For example, the model could be used to see if planets the NASA Kepler mission discovers are within a habitable zone. The Kepler mission has found more than 2,000 potential systems that could be investigated.

The data could assist with a Habitable Zone Planet Finder a team of scientists in Penn State's Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics is building. In 2011, that team received a National Science Foundation grant to develop an instrument to find planets in habitable zones. The precision spectrograph, which is under construction, will help scientists find Earth-sized planets in the Milky Way that could sustain liquid water.

In the future, the model could also be useful for research done with Terrestrial Planet Finder telescopes, which would guide users of the supersized telescopes on where to look.

While in the new model Earth appears to be situated at the very edge of the habitable zone, the model doesn't take into account feedback from clouds, which reflect radiation away from Earth and stabilize the climate.

In addition to Kopparapu, Ramirez and Kasting, researchers on the project are: Vincent Eymet, Laboratoire d'Astrophysique de Bordeaux at the Universite de Bordeaux; Tyler D. Robinson and Victoria Meadows, University of Washington; Suvrath Mahadevan, Ryan C. Terrien and Rohit Deshpande, Penn State; and Shawn Domagal-Goldman, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.

Support for the research comes from NASA Astrobiology Institute's Virtual Planetary Laboratory. An interactive calculator to estimate Habitable Zones is online: depts.washington.edu/naivpl/content/hz-calculator.

Ohio football players' rape trial will not be moved

A judge ruled Wednesday to keep the upcoming trial of two high school football players charged with raping a 16-year-old girl in the eastern Ohio county where the attack allegedly happened, rejecting requests by the defendants' attorneys who wanted the trial moved.

Prosecutors had opposed the request by the defendants' lawyers, who said some potential witnesses had been threatened and could face intimidation or harassment outside the local courthouse.

Judge Thomas Lipps also said the nonjury trial should be open to the public and media. He set the trial date for March 13.

Adam Nemann, an attorney for defendant Trent Mays, argued Friday the case should be moved to a county with a bigger courthouse where crowds of protesters potentially trying to intimidate witnesses favorable to the accused could be better controlled.

"My big concern is that witnesses aren't going to come in walking past hundreds of people wearing masks," Nemann said.

Brian Deckert, a special prosecutor from the Ohio attorney general's office, responded that witnesses could be compelled to testify by subpoena and would have to testify truthfully because of perjury laws.

Lipps also said the trial would be open to the public, overruling objections by the girl and her family, who wanted to protect her identity and keep evidence that might be ruled inadmissible from becoming public.

A lawyer for defendant Ma'Lik Richmond initially wanted the trial closed, then changed his mind. Closing the trial would have hinged largely on Richmond's concerns - related to possible witness intimidation - since his right to a fair trial was the main issue before Lipps.

The Associated Press generally does not identify juvenile suspects, but Mays' and Richmond's names have been widely reported by local and national media outlets.

Three other students who witnessed the attack but weren't charged are expected to testify at next month's trial. The girl attends a different high school across the river in West Virginia.

Prosecutors say the girl was attacked twice after an alcohol-fueled party last August, once in a car and once in the basement of a house. The AP generally doesn't identity people who say they are the victims of sexual assault.

9/11 fund makes 1st payments to sick responders

NEW YORK (AP) ? A special fund set up by Congress to compensate people who got sick after being exposed to toxic World Trade Center dust following Sept. 11 is making its first round of payments, with the initial payouts going to a group of 15 first responders with respiratory problems.

The administrator who oversees the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund, Sheila Birnbaum, announced Tuesday that the fund was finally poised to process payouts, after a deliberate start in which officials figured out how the program would work and lawyers pieced together documentation for at least 16,000 applications.

The first round of payments, most of which have been offered to firefighters, range from $10,000 to a high of $1.5 million.

Birnbaum declined to identify the recipients by name or say much about their illnesses, citing privacy concerns. She said their health problems range from "serious" to "not so serious," and that the people getting the larger awards tended to be younger, and to have suffered more severe economic losses.

The people offered lower amounts include some who have already received other compensation for their illnesses, including shares of a civil settlement for thousands of firefighters, police officers and construction workers who had sued over the lack of protective equipment at ground zero.

None of the people in the initial group had cancer, and all are still living, Birnbaum said.

"We think we are off to a good start, and with the help of the lawyers and the claimants, we will be able to come up with a lot more awards in the coming months," she said.

It will be years, though, before any applicants see the bulk of their money, or even know for certain how much they will get.

Officials don't yet know how many people will apply for aid from the $2.78 billion fund, or how ill they will be. That means they can't yet calculate each person's share. So for now, applicants are getting only 10 percent of their award. The remainder won't be paid until after the fund closes to new applicants in 2016.

Some advocates for the sick have worried that the $2.78 billion appropriated by Congress will be far less than the actual losses suffered by the sick ? a possibility that Birnbaum acknowledged in drafting the formula she is using to decide how much money claimants will get in the first round.

Planning for a worst-case scenario, fund officials estimated that as many as 26,475 people would be eligible for more than $8.5 billion in compensation.

If that happens, the firefighter awarded $1.5 million this week would, in the end, actually get a prorated share of only around $488,000.

"I think without question, there is not going to be enough," said Noah Kushlefsky, a lawyer who, along with partners, is representing about 4,700 claimants. He said that he believed Congress would ultimately be asked to put more money into the fund. "There is no doubt, based on the severity of some of the injuries."

As for the slow pace of awards so far, Kushlefsky said Birnbaum and her staff are not to blame.

He said the process of assembling the evidence showing that his clients were actually at ground zero, or were exposed to toxins, has been challenging and time-consuming. But he said the process is hitting a stage when applications should be moving much more quickly.

"I think that things are going to start taking off in the very near future," he said, noting that some of his clients have grumbled about the slowness of the process. "All these guys have waited 11 years now, and none of them are warm and fuzzy about it."

The Craftsman: Aaron Craft and the Science of Defense | Eleven ...

The road to 205 steals did not begin when Aaron Craft arrived at Ohio State. An ability to deceive defenders and perform thefts at a rate that would land him in jail if not done on a basketball court was instilled in Craft at a young age.

The son of a basketball coach, Craft began tagging along to practices not long after he began to walk and talk.?

?I think Aaron was three or four when he started going to basketball practice with dad,? said Wendy Craft, Aaron?s mother.?

It was then that a blue-collar work ethic was established in Craft. He may not be the tallest, fastest or most athletic basketball player around, but he made a promise to himself long before the bright lights of Division I college hoops that no one would outwork him. So far, Craft has delivered on that oath.

From extra hours in the gym with his tag-along kid sister, Cait, to doing defensive slides with bricks in his hands, Craft?s football mentality shines through on the basketball court. He was twice an all-state quarterback and the 2009 Division V offensive player of the year.

?I love working out with him because he sees things I don?t necessarily see myself,? said Cait, a freshman on the Ohio State women?s team. ?It?s very helpful and he?s so supportive.?

Diving for loose balls and taking charges have never been something Craft shies away from ? not when you grow up playing on cement courts with an older brother. Craft quickly turned his attention to defense while playing against his brother, Brandon, and his friends.?

The competitive fire continued to simmer when the two boys returned home. Roughhousing in the Craft family home led to a few holes being punctured in the walls. Mom and dad just shrug now looking back on it.

In a recent win over Iowa, Craft dove headfirst for a ball that caromed over the first row of courtside seats. He nearly landed on his face when a fan put up their hands to try and brace him from the fall. Being the escape artist he is, Craft managed to get his hands down before hitting the ground.

?Don't scare me like that, man,? sophomore center Amir Williams said to Craft after the game.

?When he wouldn?t back down playing amongst all these nationally known players, we thought we had something.?

It wasn?t that long ago, however, that the prospect of Craft and Williams being teammates seemed far-fetched. Craft piled up wins at Findlay Liberty-Benton and teamed up with Jared Sullinger and an abundance of other future Division I stars on the AAU circuit, but he still couldn?t draw that coveted offer from his home-state school. It eventually took Sullinger needling head coach Thad Matta for the elusive scholarship.

?Where (Aaron) made big strides was with his AAU basketball team,? John Craft, Aaron?s father, said. ?We took him around to different events and let him take part in different camps. When he wouldn?t back down playing amongst all these nationally known players, we thought we had something.

?But it?s a real blessing having him with Coach Matta. He?s a real salt of the earth person. The way Aaron approaches the game and academics and life in general, it?s a perfect storm for Aaron with Coach Matta, Ohio State and the program.?

The winds kicked up as soon as Craft stepped foot on campus. As a true freshman on a team that won its first 24 games and was ranked No. 1 for much of the season, Craft was able to distinguish himself from the core group of seniors. He was named the Big Ten?s Sixth Man of the Year for his efforts.

In 29 minutes per game, Craft averaged 6.9 points, 4.8 assists and two steals per game. He led the conference in assists with 177 and was fifth tallying 73 steals. The highlight of the season came in the second round of the NCAA Tournament against George Mason, when Craft had a school-record 15 assists.

That style of play drew attention during his freshman season, but Year 2 at Ohio State is when the legend of Aaron Craft really took off. Not only was he named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, Craft also drew the tab ?Hottest Guy? of March Madness from Cosmopolitan magazine. The sensation grew even more when he fueled a Final Four run.

Taking notice was three of the best coaches in the game ? Billy Donovan, Mike Krzyzewski and Tom Izzo. The ability to facilitate the offense combined with superb defense and a high basketball IQ describes every coach?s dream point guard.

?He is as good as any guard there is out there,? said Donovan, after Craft harassed his Florida?s guards last season in an 81-74 Ohio State win. ?I have a lot of respect and admiration for him. He is a tough, hard-nosed kid that probably does not get the proper respect he deserves.?

Times have since changed, as evidenced by Sports Illustrated?s recent profile on the Buckeye heartthrob. That?s right, it?s not just coaches that are starry-eyed when they see Craft. It turns out girls on Ohio State?s campus also swoon for the point guard, albeit for different reasons.

Craft and his coach share an almost unbreakable bond. It?s common for point guards and head coaches to have a more developed relationship than any other player-coach relationship in the locker room. The dynamic is similar to quarterbacks and head football coaches.

When Craft was mired in the biggest offensive slump of his career, it was Matta who delivered a vote of confidence, and it wasn?t the hollow gesture the sports world has become used to.

?I have no problems with Aaron,? Matta said in December. ?I don?t know as a coach if you could ever have a more secure feeling knowing he?s out there. Yeah, I want him to score more, but that?s going to come back for him. I have no doubt in my mind.?

The confidence comes from Matta knowing Craft isn?t one to get too high or too low. He always understands the moment and stays level. Matta also knows Craft can find other forms of production.

He?s averaging 8.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists and two steals per game this season.

After Craft had four steals and forced a five-second violation against a Northern Kentucky team that finished with 20 turnovers, head coach Dave Bezold didn?t shy away from praising the pest that just ruined his Saturday afternoon.

?You can?t simulate the defensive pressure of Craft in practice,? Bezold said. ?He is like having two guys on you. He changed the game in the second half to disrupt our offense. We wanted to send whoever he was guarding to the other end of the floor, so he couldn?t get near the ball and disrupt our offense.?

Keep in mind all this talk is about someone whose career points average is eight per game. But when you?re a whirling dervish on the defensive end, shooting ills are exonerated.

?He?s the best defender in college basketball. There's nobody better than him,? said Matta. ?What makes him a tremendous defender is a desire to be a great defender. He wants to be a defensive stopper. He wants to be a pest to the opposing team. He wants to create chaos.?

Michigan point guard Trey Burke, a national player of the year candidate, has found out the hard way ? twice. In the last two meetings between the Buckeyes and Wolverines, Burke has finished a combined 5 of 24 from the field with 12 turnovers.

?Craft is as good as there is and as I?ve ever seen,? said Michigan head coach John Beilein, after Burke was limited to 4-of-13 shooting and committed four turnovers in a 56-53 loss at Ohio State on Jan. 13. ?He?s tremendous.?

Craft set the school record for career steals last week, a mark that may never be broken considering he has a season and a half left in his playing career. The style change since he graduated high school has been drastic. As a senior, Craft averaged 26 points per game. His role in college might be different, but that doesn?t mean the mindset has changed.

?Craft is as good as there is and as I?ve ever seen.?

?There are so many other ways I can impact the basketball game to help the team be successful,? Craft said. ?You just have to find that and trust the coaches when they tell you what you should do. It can be tough at times, but winning and having fun with your teammates overrides being upset that you're not scoring or doing what you did in high school.?

The term gym rat has been redefined by Craft. But it?s not just outworking his opponents that makes him such a heady player ??he also outsmarts them. He was named a first-team academic All-American last season, the first Buckeye to earn that distinction in 44 years.

?Aaron was one we never really had to worry about playing video games or sitting in front of the television for hours upon hours,? John said. ?He?d play for 30 minutes and then be bored. He?s always been a go-getter, somebody who would always be doing things instead of sitting there idle.?

That same sentiment holds true today, especially on the basketball court. Last season Craft set the single-season steals record at Ohio State with 98, a mark that could be threatened again this season.

But if there?s one thing Craft dislikes more than allowing an opponent to drive past him unimpeded to the basket, it?s talking about himself. Whenever he?s asked about the many personal records he?s set, Craft, naturally, goes on the defensive and deflects the praise.

?I can?t even imagine what the number would be if Mike would?ve stayed,? he said recently, alluding to the fact that Mike Conley Jr. left after one season. ?Luckily, he didn?t, and it worked out for him. It?s working out for me, as well.

"It doesn?t mean a ton in the middle of a season. We have much more important things to worry about, especially with this team. Maybe towards the end of the year we can kind of reflect back, but right now we have much more important things to talk about and worry about.?

The future, at least two years down the road, also isn?t at the forefront of Craft?s thought process. He?s drafting a remarkable legacy at the moment, but does the script end shy of the NBA Draft?

The thought was Craft?s shooting shortcomings made him a complete liability. More and more, though, NBA teams are valuing defense, and that?s where Craft provides a niche. Current 2014 mock drafts have him going in the second round.

?You want to play as long as you can, but we?re still planning on nothing happening after college except for medical school,? he said. ?That?s the mindset were trying to take right now and if something else happens outside of that, then that?s great news. If not, I want to make sure I cover all my bases.?

The basketball player using baseball terminology. Surely, Craft would have been Rickey Henderson.

US durable goods orders rise 4.6 pct. on aircraft

WASHINGTON (AP) ? U.S. demand for long-lasting manufactured goods rose sharply in December on strong gains in volatile aircraft orders. But companies slowed their orders of goods that signal investment plans, indicating manufacturing could stay choppy in 2013.

The Commerce Department said Monday that overall orders for durable goods increased 4.6 percent in December compared with November. The gains were led by a 56.4 percent increase in military aircraft orders and a 10.1 percent increase in commercial aircraft orders.

Orders rose in other major categories, including machinery, communications equipment and primary metals.

A more closely watched gauge of business investment plans increased just 0.2 percent. Economists were encouraged that orders for so-called capital goods kept rising in December after gains of 3 percent in both November and October.

Still, the increases followed a weak stretch in demand for those goods that had raised concerns about companies' confidence in the economy. And with Americans paying higher Social Security payroll taxes this year without much gain in their wages, most economists predict consumer spending to suffer. That could dampen demand for big-ticket items and slow overall economic growth.

"The strength in durable goods orders for December is a most welcome development," said Dan Greenhaus, an analyst at BTIG. "Going forward though, despite the better numbers, we still expect business investment ... to slow yet again in 2013. This is a trend that remains in place given the weaker demand environment."

Orders for durable goods, which are expected to last at least three years, can fluctuate from month to month. For all of 2012, durable goods orders rose 4.1 percent. Demand for core capital goods fell 0.3 percent last year.

Paul Ashworth, chief U.S. economist at Capital Economics, said the growth rate of business investment in equipment and software in the October-December quarter should come in close to 5 percent, an encouraging sign.

Ashworth, however, is also worried about the increase in Social Security payroll taxes. That could make businesses nervous and further slow economic growth.

The economy grew at an annual rate of 3.1 percent in the April-June quarter. The government will provide its first look at overall economic growth in the October-December quarter on Wednesday. Many analysts believe growth slowed in the final three months of last year to less than 2 percent.

The government releases its first estimate of economic growth for the fourth quarter on Wednesday.

How many Real Housewives have divorced? Details of failed ...

CamilleGrammer

The Real Housewives of all the cities have offered up their lives to the public, and while sometimes the situations are ?set-up? the drama is often all too real with real life consequences. The Huffington Post broke up some of these life-changing events by the numbers, focusing on bankruptcies, divorces, and businesses in an infographic.

We?re taking their chart a step further, providing a little extra information about each one. This post, we?re listing the divorces. We?ll have separate posts for businesses and bankruptcies.

It?s hard enough to stay together when the details of your life aren?t of national concern, so it?s no surprise that many marriages have been strained after appearing on the show. Of course, most of the relationships showed signs of trouble anyway were probably headed for divorce with or without cameras. In some cases the reality fame might have speeded things along, but that?s just one of those things you?ll never know.

The Huffington Post says 25% of the Real Housewives have gotten divorced. They included Brandi Glanville on the list, she we?ve included her below, but we don?t know if she necessarily counts as she got a divorce before she joined the cast.

Here?s a rundown:

Mary Amons, RHODC ? married 26 years to husband Rich Ammons, filed April 2012. They have five children: Lolly, Ryan, Alexandra, Meghan and Matt.

Taylor Armstrong, RHoBH- Taylor filed for divorce, citing abuse claims, but was still legally married to Russell when he took his own life August, 2011. Taylor and Russell had one child together: Kennedy.

Tamra Barney, RHOC ? Divorced Simon Barney in 2010 after 11 years, and is now engaged to Eddie Judge. Simon and Tamra have three children together: Sidney, Spencer, and Sophia. Tamra also has a 25-year-old son Ryan from another marriage.

Lynne Curtin, RHOC ? Lynne filed for divorce December 2012, after being married for 22 years to Frank Curtin. She wanted to file in January of 2012 after they separated, but waited almost 12 months. They were under a lot of financial strain, some of which was documented while they wer still cast-members of the show. Frank made a statement that he still loved his wife, but that ?She?s just not herself right now? due to their financial stress. The couple have two children: Raquel and Alexa.

LuAnn de Lesseps, RHONY ? LuAnn was married to Count Alexandre de Lesseps for 16 years before divorcing in 2009 after he ran away with an Ethiopian Princess. LuAnn is now dating a French wine distributor named Jacques Azoulay. They are reportedly still together dispute a cheating scandal storyline last season. They have two children: Victoria and Noel.

Bethenny Frankel, RHONY and spin-off show ? Bethenny Frankel chronicled dating, getting pregnant by, and marrying Jason Hoppy on Real Housewives of New York, and her resulting spin-off shows Bethenny?s Getting Married? and Bethenny Ever After. The last season of Bethenny Ever After involved marital problems with Bethenny and Jason. They had one on-camera fight, and Bethenny told her therapist about many private fights at home. They were married March 28, 2010, and Bethenny filed for divorce in January 2013. Jason filed papers with the same requests as Bethenny including full custody of their daughter Bryn, and full use of the home they once shared.

Brandi Glanville, RHOBH Brandi?s divorce from Eddie Cibrian, her husband of nine years, happened before she was cast on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but it was a very public split because Eddie cheated with LeAnn Rimes, who he married after divorcing Brandi. They were married in 2001, and divorce was finalized September 2010. They have joint custody of their two sons Mason Edward and Jake Austin. Click here to see a timeline of Brandi and Eddie?s marriage, and Brandi?s ongoing feud with LeAnn.

Camille Grammer, RHOBH Shortly after filming began on the first season of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Camille and husband of 13 years Kelsey Grammer divorced. It was revealed that he was in love with Kayte Walsh, a flight attendant. Kayte suffered a miscarriage, but did have a baby with Kelsey after they married. Kelsey has since said that he ?gave? Camille Real Housewives because he thought he owed her fame.

Vicki Gunvalson, RHOC ? Vicki was married to Donn Gunvalson for about 16 years before she filed for divorce in October 2010. Donn has been a father figure to Vici?s two children from a previous marriage, Michael and daughter Briana Wolfsmith. Donn is now fighting prostate cancer, and Vicki has moved on to dating Brooks Ayers. They briefly split in late 2012, but were reunited for New Year?s Eve.

Jeana Keough, RHOC ? Former Real Housewives of OC castmember Jeana Keough went through a separation with her husband Matt Keough, a former major league baseball player, on camera. Even though they split, Matt still lived in the house, and as of 2013 it looks like the divorce has still not been finalized. Matt has struggled with numerous legal issues due to a problem with binge drinking. They have three children together: Shane, Kara and Colton.

NeNe Leakes, RHOA NeNe Leakes? divorce from husband Gregg has long been speculated as a potential fake storyline to help ramp up her drama on the show. Regardless of how genuine the split was (Gregg got caught throwing Nene some shade on the radio in the middle of their break-up,) they are now officially back together and getting married again. They have one biological son together, Brentt, and Greg has been a father figure for NeNe?s son Bryson from another relationship. Bryson has given NeNe a granddaughter Bri?asia, who NeNe refers to as her ?glambaby? on the show.

Adrienne Maloof, RHOBH Adrienne Maloof and Paul Nassif decided to get divorced July 2012, and allegations flew for a while until they came to an amicable decision. They have three sons together: Gavin, Colin and Christian. Adrienne is now dating Rod Stewart?s son Sean.

Catherine Ommaney, RHODC In June, 2010 Cat Ommaney split with husband Charles Ommaney,a photojournalist working at the White House at the time. The paired married in 2008, and have no children together, though Cat had two daughters from a previous marriage. In December, 2012 Cat gave birth to her third daughter, Zara Isabella. This is definitely one case where the show had a major impact on the divorce. After the show aired, Charles Ommaney? new-found fame cost him his job, and possibly his ability to get other work because it was hard for him to get good shots when people recognized him. He moved to Miami and told The NY Times that he regretted doing the show.

Michaele Salahi, RHODC Michaele and Tareq Salahi, known as the ?White House Crashers? because they attended a State Dinner without an invitation, were married in 2003, and divorced in 2011 after Michaele ran off with Journey guitarist Neal Schon. They don?t have any children together. This pair have been involved in a number of shenanigans before and after they were famous, you can (partially) catch up on those here.

DeShawn Snow, RHOA ? DeShawn was on the first season of Real Housewives of Atlanta, and she was not the most memorable cast member of the franchise (her most memorable moment was hiring a crew of house staff to rival Downton Abbey when she didn?t even know where her husband was gonna get his next gig.) DeShawn and husband Eric Snow split in May of 2010 after it was discovered that he had a pregnant mistress. DeShawn and Eric have three kids, and DeShawn has since dropped 30 pounds and written a bunch of books.

?Stacie Scott Turner, RHODC ? Stacie Scott Turner was married to her business consultant Jason Turner for 14 years before splitting February 2012. They have two children together.

?Lisa Wu, RHOA Lisa Wu appeared on early seasons of Real Housewives of Atlanta with her husband Ed (real name Edgerton) Hartwell, who she married in 2005. By 2010, there were already whispers of a split, and Ed finally filed for divorce August, 2011. Lisa Wu, no longer a RH cast-member, is now trying to start up an acting career and launch a lip gloss line. She and Ed have one child Ed. Jr.

Russian police break up "kiss-in" over anti-gay law

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Police broke up a "kiss-in" protest by gay activists who scuffled with Russian Orthodox Christians outside parliament on Friday before it considered a law banning the promotion of homosexuality among minors.

Backers say the law will protect children against "homosexual propaganda" in the media and at public events, but critics say President Vladimir Putin hopes it will consolidate support for him following the biggest protests since he won power in 2000.

Police said about 20 people were detained outside the State Duma, the lower house, after minor scuffles broke out between rival groups of supporters and opponents of the law.

The supporters, some of them holding Russian Orthodox icons or crosses, cheered and threw eggs as police hauled away protesters who started kissing. One gay activist was splashed with green paint, witnesses said.

If approved by the two houses of parliament, and signed by Putin, the law would ban the promotion of gay events across Russia and impose fines on the organizers.

But the law has widened rifts in a country already divided by a year of rallies against Putin which, although they have dwindled in the last few months, have undermined his image as a leader who can unite and protect all Russians.

Putin's critics say the law is the latest in a series of legislative moves intended to crack down on the opposition or appeal to traditional Russian values to boost the former KGB spy's ratings.

Public approval for Putin, who is now 60, stood in January at 62 percent, the lowest level since June 2000, an independent pollster said on Thursday.

Veteran human rights campaigner Lyudmila Alexeyeva said the draft law was "medieval" and was probably meant as a pretext to outlaw gay rights marches.

"Animosity towards gays and lesbians is widespread in society, and the Duma, which has approved a number of unpopular laws, hopes it can win some popularity with an anti-gay law," she told Reuters.

"It is relying on the ignorance of people who think homosexuality is some sort of distortion ... in another brutal tightening of legislation," she said.

PUTIN AND THE CHURCH

Supporters of the law welcome moves that would allow the banning of gay rights marches and complain about television and radio programs which they say show support for gay couples.

"Such widespread propaganda of homosexuality negatively affects the formation of a child's personality, blurs its ideas of the family as the union of a man and woman, and in fact creates grounds for limiting the freedom of choice of sexual preferences when it grows up," the law's backers said in a written defense of the legislation.

Putin, who has criticized gays for failing to help reverse Russia's population decline, has increasingly looked for support among conservative constituencies and particularly the church to offset his falling support.

The Russian Orthodox Church, resurgent since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, has spoken out against homosexuality. Putin drew closer to the clergy during the trial and sentencing this summer of three members of the Pussy Riot punk band over their protest in the country's main cathedral.

Anti-gay propaganda laws are already in place in Arkhangelsk, Novosibirsk and St Petersburg, Putin's home city, where it was used unsuccessfully to sue American singer Madonna for $10 million for promoting gay love during a concert last year.

Although a court rejected that case, a local politician from Putin's ruling Untied Russia party has said he is taking similar action against another singer, Lady Gaga, who is also a defender of lesbian and gay rights.

Homosexuality, punished with jail terms in the Soviet Union, was decriminalized in Russia in 1993, but much of the gay community remains underground and prejudice runs deep.

"This draft law is one of the most blatant of the attacks on civil rights for Russian citizens in recent months," gay rights campaigning group All Out said in a statement.

"The crackdown has extended across all forms of civil liberties, including freedom of speech and expression."

In Moscow, city authorities have repeatedly declined permission to stage gay parades and gay rights allies have often ended in arrests and clashes with anti-gay activists.

Toothpaste Dots Keep Down Toiletry Bulk When Carrying Light

Toothpaste Dots Keep Down Toiletry Bulk When Carrying LightWhether you enjoy wilderness backpacking or just subscribe to the one bag travel philosophy a lot of little items can quickly add to up a lot of weight to carry around. Save weight and bulk by drying toothpaste into toothpaste dots for use while on the go.

Tactical skills weblog Imminent Threat Solutions shares a simple method for making toothpaste dots by squeezing small, chocolate-chip sized "dots" of toothpaste onto aluminum foil, allowing those dots to harden for a week or so, and then transferring to a small waterproof bag. To use, all you need to do is pop a toothpaste dot in your mouth, chew for a few seconds, and start brushing. Two caveats: this technique doesn't work with gel toothpaste (check out the source link for photos) and you'll want to toss a pinch of baking soda in your storage bag to keep the dots from sticking.

In addition to backpacking and traveling, I can see this also being a good thing to keep in your go bag with one of those small travel toothbrushes for times you'd like to brush your teeth at the office or on the go.

Disney's Bob Iger talks deal-making with Steve Jobs, importance of risk

NEW YORK (TheWrap.com) - When two entertainment industry giants sat down on the same stage Wednesday, one of the first subjects they talked about was a third: Producer Brian Grazer's opening question for Disney CEO Bob Iger led almost immediately to Iger's memories of Steve Jobs.

Iger talked about his experiences with the Apple co-founder in a talk in which he also discussed his high tolerance for risk and what he said was his only real fear about Disney: That the company may one day stop innovating creatively.

Grazer moderated the Hollywood Radio and Television Society panel with Iger, who discussed Jobs as he recalled Disney's 2006 acquisition of Pixar, the animation company of which Jobs was the major shareholder, soon after Iger became Disney's CEO. The $7.4 billion all-stock deal revived Disney's animation, made Jobs the largest shareholder in Disney, and set the stage for later Disney acquisitions of Marvel and Lucasfilm.

But it almost didn't happen because of past disagreements between Jobs and previous Disney CEO Michael Eisner. When Iger learned that he was to be named CEO, one of the first things he did was call Jobs.

"I don't even remember it being totally premeditated," Iger said. "I just decided to call my parents and my grown daughters in New York and a couple of good friends and Steve."

He asked Jobs if they could get together to see if the companies' relationship could be "salvaged," Iger said.

"To his credit, he said, 'Okay. I think you're just more of the same...'" but he still agreed to talk, Iger said.

He also credited Jobs with being "relentlessly" honest and candid, even calling him on Saturdays to say if a Disney movie he saw the night before had "sucked."

Iger said that directness was infectious. He was candid with Jobs, he said, about Disney's need to acquire Pixar to improve Disney's animation offerings.

Later, reading Walter Isaacson's biography of Jobs, he learned that Jobs had been impressed by his honesty. He joked that that "probably saved us probably a couple hundred-thousand dollars" in the $7.4 billion-dollar deal.

Iger remembered his dealings with Jobs on a good day for Disney and a bad one for Apple. Even as Disney stock hit an all-time high of $53.95 per share, Apple stock plummeted in after-hours trading after the company reported disappointing iPhone sales. (Iger serves on Apple's board of directors.)

Among the lessons Iger said he has learned as a CEO is the importance of accepting risk.

"I've learned over the years that while you can't be dismissive of risk, particularly in the corporate world? if you are too focused on it you don't do anything," Iger said. "You don't get anything done. CEOs of companies that need to grow and need to evolve cannot be risk-averse."

He added: "So while I'm always aware that there's risk involved in some of these big decisions, I focus far more on opportunities. And it was the opportunity that Pixar presented to Disney that I spent much of my time on, in weighing whether we should step up and buy Pixar."

Glazer concluded the talk by asking Iger if anything keeps him awake at night.

"No," Iger said. "I'm not that fearful a person. ... In terms of the company, the only thing that I ever really worry about is just how really to sustain creative success. Nothing bothers me more than walking out of a screening or seeing something that we've done and we all look at each other and kind of know - I like honesty, by the way, when it comes to criticism - we all know it could have been better so we look at it and say, boy, that could have been better, and kind of share in the disappointment a bit. I hate that."

SEM ? Search Engine Marketing ? World Internet Summit Speakers

A FASTER APPROACH TO GAINING BUSINESS !!!

Enhancing the presence of your website on the Internet may not be easy but it is not difficult either. There are many factors that you will have to consider. If you have a website then making it known to the visitors or the Internet users is essential without which you are not going to gain anything. marketing techniques are all interrelated but you need to know what each has got and how one is different from the other.

SEM or Search Engine marketing can have great many advantages.

Promoting a business or business activities depend(s) largely on your approach. You will have to have a goal in your mind first. It is entirely different from other forms of marketing. SEM gives off many branches of online marketing. It is, to a certain extent, not that easy to carry out. Other things that are interconnected and that even have direct relevance to Search Engine marketing are Website Design, linking or link building, Web Content or Website Content, SEO or search engine optimization Or SEO Article Submission and Online Advertising.

SEM may seem not that easy but once a technical approach is adopted then it becomes easier. Most of the businesses today are concentrating on this type of marketing because it is result-oriented.

If the work is carried out at a faster pace then it is possible that in a short period of time the desired results can be seen. marketing Strategies are inter dependent and follow a system which co-ordinates everything (that is a part of it). Search Engine marketing Strategies include website marketing which is demographical and it is entirely depended on the market research.
