The moment we stepped through the front doors of MacKechnie House, we were greeted by B & B owner,?Cathryn Thompson?s warm smile and given the tour and run down of the B & B.

As we explored the home my husband commented on and marveled at the Greek 1800 architectural which showcased the beauty of a bygone era. The Grand Salon of the house would be the perfect location for those memorable valentine photos.? The large wig back chairs are perfect for curling up in as you enjoy conversation with other guests over an afternoon tea.
We found MacKechnie House, to offer? accommodations to suit most budgets, with rooms starting as low as $115.00 a night. Having viewed all three rooms, we found the bedrooms to be spacious and beautifully furnished in keeping with the 1880s era of the home.
If ultimate privacy is what you are seeking though, then we highly recommend the Gatsby room out of the 3 rooms.? Located on the ground floor opposite the Grand Salon, the room boasts a Queen-sized Bed,? large en-suite bath, and kitchen area with sink, coffee maker, kettle, and bar fridge. The room also provides a back porch and a separate entrance. Because smoking is not permitted in the home- my husband found the porch and private entrance very useful.
After a comfortable restful sleep, we awaken to breakfast served in a stunning dining room with painted Georgian Red walls that will give you a feeling of cheerfulness. The breakfast, prepared by?Cathryn included a starter of juice, delicious coffee/ tea, and classic baked apples filled with? cinnamon, and raisin. It was absolutely heavenly. For the main course we had peameal bacon served with savoury cheese? and sweet pepper pancakes, which to me tasted like a crustless quiche. It was a nice change from the traditional Canadian breakfast.
In addition to a memorable? breakfast, the atmosphere of floor-to-ceiling bookshelves finished in original faux mahogany, a fire place,? and double french doors leading out to the front verandah truly enhanced our dining experience.
Located just minutes from downtown and the waterfront, unlike a hotel, MacKechnie House offers a private ?at home?, comfy atmosphere.
