Free Summer Camps Available to City Youth

Day camps and theme camps available to City residents

The City of St. Louis, joined with Playtime Recreation and the Recreation Division of the City Parks Department, is proud to offer a wide array of free summer day camps for city children ages 4-17. These camps have the capacity to serve more than 2,600 children this summer.

Long-Term Day Camps

Long-term day camps will operate from June 11th through August 17TH. These day camps are available for youths ages 4-12 and are provided on weekdays from 9:30 a.m. ? 1:00 p.m. for ages 4-6 and from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for ages 7-12. Camps offer a variety of activities, including swimming, soccer, field trips, fishing, games, arts and crafts, movie days, etc.

*Day camp at Cherokee Recreation Center runs from June 11th through August 3rd from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for ages 7-17.

Parents and guardians may apply for the above camps in person at any City recreation centers or by calling (314) 289-5320.

These summer camps are fully or partially funded through HUD and CDA authorized CDBG funds

Theme Camps

Children ages 7 to 17 are encouraged to participate in one of 32 theme camp offered in 24 locations throughout the City of St. Louis.? All camps are free of charge but City residents will be given priority registration. (See attached flyer for more details and camp dates/locations.)

Tennis: Instructors from Just Us Tennis Foundation will be offering seven weeks of fundamental tennis skills training.? Racquets and balls will be provided for use on site.

?

Football, Basketball and Cheerleading: ?Coaches from the Demetrious Johnson Charitable Foundation will teach these sports over 7 week-long sessions. Youth football is no-contact. Participants will be grouped based on age and skill level.

Soccer: MidWest Soccer Academy instructors will provide youth a series of 6 weeks of summer soccer camp. Participants will receive a free soccer ball.

Track: YL Sports are providing youth two weeks to learn the fundamentals of track and field. The emphasis of this program is to improve conditioning and speed through track workouts.

Golf: The Golf Foundation of Missouri and professional instructors provide children the opportunity to participate in these 6 week camps held at the Highlands Golf Course in Forest Park.? Equipment is provided.

?

Poetry and Creative Writing:? These weeklong camps conducted by the St. Louis Poetry Center and the Urban Artist Alliance for Child Development will help engage children?s creative minds and allow them to express themselves with the written word.

Theater: Stray Dog Theater presents youth an introduction to the performing arts. Each two-week camp will conclude with a staged production for family and friends.
